Margaret is the founder and CEO of Debate Mate, a global social business that teaches communication and leadership in schools and businesses across the world. Since 2008, Debate Mate has worked with over 100,000 young people in some of the world’s most challenging communities. Since 2014, the commercial arm of Debate Mate has worked with over 7,500 business professionals, and is currently working with Goldman Sachs, Rolls-Royce, BP and Standard Chartered amongst others.
Margaret’s work has been recognised by leading figures and organisations globally including Bill Gates, Harvard University, the UK Prime Minister, the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge and, most recently, by being nominated for the Yidan Prize for Education. The nomination is based primarily on Margaret’s new venture-Debate Mate Online which will harness technology to beam the innovative Debate Mate methodology to millions of students, teachers and professionals globally.
Margaret is an accomplished chair and speaker, and regularly advises senior business and political leaders on their social impact and responsible business. Prior to setting up Debate Mate, Margaret practised for 25 years a commercial barrister.
