Ms Yaneth GIHA
Yaneth GIHA has more than 20 years of experience in the Colombian public and private sectors. She held the position of Minister of National Education of Colombia for almost 2 years until August 2018. Her main objectives in the ministerial post were to elevate the quality of education, promote education in citizenship and leadership, and close the existing inequality gaps between rural and urban areas of Colombia.
Before becoming Minister of Education, she was the General Director of Colciencias, the public institution in Colombia that leads the national system of Science, Technology and Innovation, for more than two years. She has also occupied several positions in the public sector, including Vice-minister of Defence, Director of Planning and Budgeting, and Director of Science and Technology of the Ministry of Defence. In the private sector, she acted as General Director of the Centre for Leadership and Director of Innovation of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce.
Yaneth GIHA holds an Economics degree from the Andes University in Colombia, as well as a Master’s Degree in Political Science from Javeriana University and a Master’s in War Studies from King’s College London.
