John McDermott is The Economist‘s global public policy editor. Before moving to The Economist in 2016, he was political correspondent and a commentator at the Financial Times, which he joined in 2010. Mr McDermott was a policy adviser in the prime minister’s strategy and policy units from 2008-10. He is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Harvard University, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.
